Join us Thursday, January 8th at 7pm to listen to Katie Ryan, Executive Director and Serena Becker, Program Director from the Opal Creek Ancient Forest Center (OCAFC) provide the Council with a presentation on their local non-profit environmental education organization. Founded in 1989 as Friends of Opal Creek to gain protection of the Opal Creek watershed, OCAFC now serves over 3,000 participants annually through their outdoor school, workshops, expeditions and cabin rental programs. They will be presenting information on the OCAFC’s programs located at the historic mining town of Jawbone Flats in the heart of the 35,000-acre watershed of the Opal Creek Wilderness and Scenic Recreation Area, and their mission of promoting conservation through educational experiences in wilderness.
